　On Thursday, July 24, 2025, “Science Live Ticket Series Part 82” was held in the Lecture room on the 7th floor of Konan University’s Port Island Campus.

  This lecture series is co-sponsored by the Japan Society for Nucleic Acid Chemistry and aims to provide a platform for leading researchers in the field of nucleic acid chemistry to present their latest research findings.

　Lecture Title：Switching off pathogens: the potential of G-quadruplex targeting
　Lecturer：Associate Professor Ilaria Frasson （ Dept. Molecular Medicine University of Padova, Italy ）

　Associate Professor Frasson introduced cutting-edge research focusing on the “G-quadruplex,” a special three-dimensional structure formed by nucleic acids (DNA and RNA), and how targeting it can suppress the proliferation of pathogens such as viruses.

　This lecture provided a valuable opportunity to learn about cutting-edge drug discovery research on “nucleic acid structures,” and was a stimulating experience for the students in terms of both their research and their careers.

We will have “FIBER FUTURE COLLEGE” on 24th July 2025. 

At the Konan University Institute of Advanced Biomedical Engineering (FIBER), we regularly hold a seminar called ‘FIBER Future University’ in collaboration with the Japan Nucleic Acid Chemistry Society, inviting leading researchers in the field of nucleic acid chemistry to present their latest research findings.

This time, we will invite Associate Professor Ilaria Frasson from the University of Padua in Italy to give a lecture on research aimed at suppressing viral proliferation by targeting the quadruple helical structure of nucleic acids. She will provide a simple explanation of viruses and nucleic acid structures from the basics.
