【Report】”FIBER Webinar Universe in Nucleic Acid Chemistry 35″
2024/10/17
【Event report】
Date and time: 16th October, 2024 4:00 pm – 4:30 pm (JST)
Venue:Room210, Konan University Port Island Campus
(in person and online)
On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, “FIBER Nucleic Acid Universe 35” was held in Lecture Room 210 at Konan University’s Port Island Campus.
This event is a public lecture series featuring leading researchers in the field of nucleic acid chemistry.
Dr. Openy is a young researcher participating in a project selected for the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science’s bilateral exchange program with Professor Guido H. Clever of the Technical University of Dortmund. This is considered a valuable opportunity for researchers in the fields of nucleic acid chemistry and molecular biology to directly learn about the latest findings.

【Lecture 】 4:00 pm –
Lecture title:Exploring the Potential of Transition-metal Modified G-Quadruplexes and Small Molecule Binders for Biomedical Application
Speaker : Dr. Openy, Oweta Joseph Noah(TU Dortmund University, Germany)

Dr. Openy has presented his latest research findings on the potential to dramatically advance conventional cancer treatment and diagnostic technologies by targeting the G-quadruplicate (G4) structure of DNA and combining it with transition metals (such as platinum and ruthenium).
This lecture provided a valuable opportunity to deepen our understanding of the functionalization of biomolecules such as DNA through metal complex formation in the field of nucleic acid chemistry, and its content will greatly contribute to future research activities.
【Event details】
We invite leading researchers in the field of nucleic acid chemistry and hold “FIBER FUTURE COLLEGE” as public lectures.
We will have “FIBER Webinar Universe in Nucleic Acids Chemistry 35” as a public webinar lecture in a series of “FIBER FUTURE COLLEGE” on 16th October 2024. We invite Dr. Joseph Openy from TU Dortmund University in Germany. His expertise is coordination chemistry to functionalize nucleic acids structures including G-quadruplexes. We look forward to your participation from universities, research institutes, and companies.
This symposium is a part of the projects funded by JSPS Bilateral Programs.
